Wellness Recipes!

By Jennette Cable on October 2, 2018

A common question from my patients revolves around specific ingredients to prevent disease. Leafy greens, antioxidant-rich fruits, mineral-rich lemons, fresh garlic, mineral and protein-rich broth, enzyme-rich lacto fermented foods and beverages, and purified water top my list.

Here are a few of my favorite mainstay recipes that I make nearly daily!

Good Morning Cleansing Tonic

1 lemon

1 apple

6 leaves kale

6 leaves romaine

1” ginger root

Combine all in a juicer (not blender!).

Wellness Salad

Greens of your choice

For dressing, whisk together:

Equal parts – Olive Oil, Flax Seed Oil

Juice of ½ lemon

Crushed garlic clove

Liquid Aminos to taste

Toss greens with dressing and sprinkle 1/8 cup nut cheese on top.

Homemade Broth

INGREDIENTS

  • 12 cups / 2 3/4 litres filtered water
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil or extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 red onion quartered (with skins)
  • 1-2 garlic bulbs smashed
  • 1 thumb-sized piece of ginger roughly chopped (with skin)
  • 1-2 cups greens such as kale or spinach
  • 3-4 cups mixed chopped vegetables and peelings
  • 1/2 cup dried shiitake mushrooms
  • 30 g dried wakame seaweed
  • 1 tbsp peppercorns
  • 2 tbsp ground turmeric

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Place all ingredients into a large pot. Bring to a boil then simmer, with the lid on, for approximately one hour.
  2. Strain the liquid into a large bowl.
  3. Serve immediately.
  4. Season with Bragg’s Liquid Aminos® for an extra salty flavor or season with sea salt.
