Christopher approaches physical therapy from a holistic perspective ranging from in-depth education to hands-on manual therapy. In addition, Christopher reinforces manual corrections with neuromuscular reeducation so corrections are integrated into the patient’s movements. A feature of Christopher’s balanced practice is his attention to the ‘ergonomics of living’. Many patients are sleeping, sitting, working or moving in a way that puts a lot of stress on their bodies. The solution to chronic pain is rarely a unidirectional approach (ie, mobilization), but a balanced approach of identifying faulty movement patterns or positions, correcting mechanical issues in the body, and optimizing the neuromuscular system of the body.
Christopher’s education began with a Clinical Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Creighton University in 1997. His intent on learning fueled his decision to become a Certified Functional Manual Therapist which he completed through the Institute of Physical Art (IPA) in 2008. He was drawn to the IPA organization because of their balanced approach of education, hands-on, neuromuscular reeducation, and ergonomics. In 2010 he completed a year long fellowship through the IPA to become a Fellow in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy. He now has the pleasure of being an instructor for the IPA, teaching at weekend courses around the country. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family whether it be skiing, biking, archery or coaching his kid’s soccer teams. He also enjoys cooking and running, especially along the Milwaukee River.
